Event - Inspiration Day

20 April 2018

Reception took a trip 'under the sea' for inspiration day this term. We went on a pirate treasure hunt, made different sea creatures during a range of different materials and enjoyed role playing in our new Pirate ship in class.

Year 1

In Year 1, we learnt about London. We started the day locating the United Kingdom and then England. We used the Beebots to travel to different cities in England, where we finally ended up in London. Following this, we took a closer look at London and landmarks and monuments that help us to identify London. In the afternoon, we created some of these landmarks using cardboard and other materials. We had a great day.

Year 2

In Year 2 we all dressed up for our amazing Africa topic. We made African necklaces and completed sunset silhouette paintings. We had a fantastic day.

Year 3

In Year 3, we started learning about the UK and Europe. We looked at the different landmarks that could be found in each country and looked at the populations of some of the countries. We then created our own European maps ready for display. We finished by having some world foods.

Year 4

In Year 4, we started learning about the Vikings. We annotated a map of Europe to show where the Vikings where from and where they invaded. We also made a timeline to show key events in the Viking era. Additionally, we looked the Viking alphabet Rune and wrote different messages for our partners to decode. We enjoyed making our own Viking shields.

Year 5

In Year 5, our topic is Brazil and the Rainforest. We were given the task of creating an information book all about the Amazon rainforest. We had to choose what information we were going to include in our booklets and present the information in interesting ways.
