Event - Year 3 Visit the Roald Dahl Museum

14 May 2019

On Tuesday 14th May 2019, Year 3 went to The Roald Dahl Museum in Buckinghamshire.

After a very long journey, they had a great day. They went to visit Roald Dahl’s grave at St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church. They also walked around the village of Great Missenden, where Roald Dahl lived and gained inspiration for his writing.

The village Library is where he imagined Matilda to go when her mum went to Bingo. A thatched house in the village, is what he imagined Sophie’s orphanage to look like in The BFG.

In the Roald Dahl Museum, the children learnt a lot of information about Roald Dahl and how he created his stories. They were then given the opportunity to craft some of their own character.

"I loved this trip because we learnt about Roald Dahl and how he put a dead mouse into a jar of gobstoppers." Joseph

"I love they used the real life artefacts from Roald Dahl’s writing hut." Preeti
