Event - Year 5's World War II Day

15 January 2016

On Friday the 15th January, the pupils in Year 5 dressed up as people from the WWII era. Some came as soldiers, others as evacuees and we even had a few Winston Churchills!

The children took part in a range of activities through the day including: calculating the cost of living in the 1930's and 40's; finding out which countries were involved in WWII; and finding the location of the countries on a map.

Children also brought in artefacts that they showed the class including a real gas mask from 1941. The children enjoyed the day and it deepened their understanding of what it was like to live through WWII.
