In October, we celebrated UK Black History Month. The theme for this year was ‘Celebrating Our Sisters’.
We used this as an opportunity to study some inspirational women these included; Claudia Jones – the founder of Notting Hill Carnival, Dina Asher-Smith – an athlete, Floella Benjamin, Nicola Adams – A boxer, MP Diane Abbott, Malorie Blackman – an author and Baroness Doreen Lawrence an activist.
The children learnt about the impact that these inspirational women have had on society.
